Magnet Assembly Validation

The challenge

• Elongated magnets are glued to a plate with precision; validating that assembly was a challenge.
• Polarity was checked with a machine that was slow, expensive and unreliable.
• When defects appeared, the fallback was a manual check with a polarity tester, and the serial number was noted down by hand: time-consuming and prone to error.

The solution

• A fully functional MVP that checks polarity and placement automatically, built around speed, reliability and ease of use.
• Hall sensors determine the magnetic polarity accurately, and computer vision detects the lines on the magnets as a second validation.
• AI-based OCR recognises and records the serial number automatically, inside a closed housing with optimal lighting conditions.
